BTO was born through a partnership by people that care about our natural resources and providing incredible opportunities to enjoy them in the beautiful state of Wyoming.
We are Wyoming's fishing outfitter.
Owners, Jake Black and Justin Dykes have been in the industry for several years running central Wyoming’s finest hunting outfitting operation, Backcountry Hunting Logistics BG272 (BHL), that focuses on quality big game hunts and providing experiences that turn into enjoyable memories that last forever. BHL is selective and exclusive, because they value the resources and want them to last for our future generations. Partnering with master angler and conservationist Chris Scholtz, BTO is a part of that bigger picture, to provide experiences that are worth your time and not overfish our precious waters.
We don’t want to focus on having 12 boats down the river every day; we want to focus on YOU and all of our futures on these waters.

Meet the Team
Our drive has been forged through our passion for the outdoors. The BTO team has a full understanding of the importance and reverence of moments in the wild, the unexplainable views witnessed, and the feelings evoked when escaping the hustle of life.
We thrive on sharing and building memories with our clients out on Wyoming’s best fishing grounds. Providing the best for our guests is where our days begin and end. BTO’s operation is unique with our intimate knowledge of the fisheries and our ability to provide experiences and accommodations that nobody else can.
Chris Scholtz
Owner/GUIDE
Chris Scholtz is a 4th generation Wyomingite, with roots in both Casper and Thermopolis. His love for fly fishing was sparked at an early age, fishing in high mountain lakes, the North Platte River, and its surrounding reservoirs. His dedication to the wildlife industry brought him to the University of Wyoming where he graduated with a Bachelors in Wildlife and Fisheries Management. Entering his tenth season as a professional guide, Chris has excelled in many outdoor avenues. His skill, personality, and ability to connect with all types of hunters and fisherman has blessed him with many friends in the industry.
Justin Dykes
Justin Dykes is an avid outdoor enthusiast who loves every aspect of fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors. He has an extensive background in business consulting, management, and has owned multiple successful businesses; including BHL. Justin has a keen sense of forecasting projections and next steps that are outside of the box; promoting healthy business advantages and solutions. His experience as a guide has shown he is an outstanding wilds professional and can provide people incredible experiences, through living the motto of “they show up as a guest and leave as a friend.”
